Baby don't you cry, I'm gonna bake a pie....

OK, so can you tell I just watched The Waitress and now that song it stuck in my head? Well, I didn't make any pies from the movie, but I did make a pie...a Shepherds Pie. Now, everyone has an idea of what a Shepherds Pie is. There are many controversies over whether it should have carrots or no carrots, peas or no peas, gravy or no gravy, and on and on..... The basic concept is simple though: Meat, gravy. veggies and topped with mashed potatoes, browned to perfection. My favorite is simple, American style...and by that I mean with good 'ol Cream of Mushroom soup!

Shepherds Pie:

1 lb Hamburger
1 lg onion, diced
1 can french green beans
1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
4 cups mashed potatoes
2 T butter
salt & pepper

Brown hamburger and onions in cast iron skillet. Mix in green beans and soup. Salt & pepper to taste. Top with mashed potatoes. Top with butter. Bake in 325 oven for 45 minutes. Enjoy!

So I leave you to make your own judgement on my version of this great weeknight, one-dish comfort meal. I now invite you to share your version! Show us how you interpret what Shepherds Pie is!

Super Supper!

As expected, the feast prepared for Super Bowl Sunday was super-special! Here is a look at some of what the 6 1/2 hours of cooking I did that day turned into........

2nd Annual Super Bowl Cake:

Chocolately Crispy Footballs:

Cheesy Football:

And to route on those Saints, Shrimp Po Boys:

And Jambalaya:

And to represent the Colts, Pulled pork sliders (not pictured) and a Warm Corn Dip:

Misc other snacks like Mexican Potato Skins:

and of course my guacamole:

Tip of the day: Put the pit from your avocado in the bottom of your dip bowl and your guacamole will not turn brown!! Genius!

Of course there were MANY other treats, just too many to share here!
Not pictured: Veggie Tray, Chicken Jalapenos Poppers, Pizzas, Tornados, Brie Cranberry in Filo, Queso Dip, Wings, and many more I am surely forgetting!
All in all, a fantastic day of Family, Friends and Football!
Congrats again to the Saints! Forget those Cowboys, you are now America's Team! <3

Score!

So you know everything I do somehow revolves around food....especially, when what I am doing is football....ProBowl included! Here is a litle look into what my first ProBowl Tailgate was like.

Day started off great...we were the first ones in our favorite grassy tailgate area......

Then, when we were getting ready to heat up the grill for our tailgaiting feast....It fell right off the table and broke the ignition switch...classic! Luckily, Dolfans rule, and the guy next to us let us borrow his grill when he was done.  Thank goodness, otherwise we never would have been able to savor these delicious kebabs:

Then some other great Dolfans pulled in on the other side of us, and immediately came over and offered homeade empanadas....Aren't Miami fans great?!

To finish off the feast, we had some cupcakes to satisfy that sweet tooth. This is what they looked like minutes before they flew off the table and were covered in dirt!

Dispite all of our mishaps that day (including a dead battery also, but who's counting?) and a little rain, my brother Scott and I had a fantastic time at our first (and most likely last) ProBowl!

Ok, on to plan a SuperBowl party...stay tuned to see what yummy treats we come up with!
